Founded in 1649, Annapolis, Maryland is steeped in colonial history and has some of the best samples of 17th and 18th Century dwellings in the States. Ride along the brick sidewalks and imagine yourself transported back to the times when George Washington or Thomas Jefferson strolled these streets when Annapolis held title as the Capital of the United States. Annapolis also hosts the United States Naval Academy and St. John's College, alma mater of Francis Scott Key. For those who prefer something more progressive, Annapolis city dock is spectacular and there are many shops and restaurants to frequent.
